action

The unsuccessful Rick Jeffers is a fan of Beverly Hills- based porn actress Ginger Quail. Rick has a relationship with Tamara Jenson but watches every movie with Ginger. One day he meets Quail in a bar and spends the night with her. Jenson then breaks up with him and turns to one of his friends. When Rick finds out about this, he quits his lousy job, packs some of his things and gets in his car to drive to Palm Springs , where he wants to meet Ginger.

On the way there, Rick meets homeless Jules Langdon, a shy eccentric and bird lover. This was rejected by his father from home because a hawk was killed in his parents ' Castle of Birds - a pet shop especially for birds - due to Jules' carelessness.

When they both stop at a rest stop, Rick turns to a 16-year-old girl who reciprocates his advances. Eventually the two kiss in Rick's car until Brad, the girl's angry older brother, appears, beats Rick with a baseball bat, smashes the back window of the car, and smashes Rick's vinyl record collection on the highway. Rick then swears retribution, contrary to the advice of peaceful Jules. In a gun shop he gets a crossbow and drives after Brad. When he sees this with his buddy in a parking lot in front of their truck, he draws attention to himself, lights an arrow, and shoots it at the tire of Brad's truck, which then explodes.

Eventually Rick and Jules arrive in California. Rick meets Ginger and they spend another night together, but then split up in an argument. The next day, Ginger's husband, who works as a kind of pimp and treats his wife badly, learns of this affair. Jealously he decides to shave Ginger's head as a punishment. Rick, who returns to ask Ginger to come with him, encounters this scene and still meets the resistance of the naive Ginger. Rick wakes up in the front yard the next morning, beaten and with his hair cut off.

Rick and Jules continue their journey and finally arrive at the Castle of Birds , which has a new owner; not for the benefit of the store. Jules is appalled by the changes and the way the birds are kept in small cages. Rick and Jules spend the evening in a club, where Jules meets a woman with whom he has his first sexual intercourse, and in whose presence he lets the hawk fly, which he previously stole from the bird shop. Although he doesn't have a driver's license, Rick leaves Jules behind the wheel of his car. He, still full of euphoria due to the evening and heavily drunk, drives him high-spirited on the highway that night. Finally he crashes into another car and her car overturns several times. The film ends with the injured Rick being freed from the car by the fire department and Jules being put in a body bag.

Reviews

Terri Clark wrote in the Apollo Movie Guide that it is magnanimous to call the film plot a plot. The characters seem exaggerated, their motivations are pointless. The title could allude to the fact that the audience would learn how quickly they get up from the sofa to turn off the film. The film was " unforgettable bad " ( " unforgettably bad ").

Christopher Null wrote on www.filmcritic.com that the film consists of meaningless elements that are " tied together " with even less meaning . Jake Busey is miscast, but Jennifer Tilly's " lascivious " Ginger seems funny enough for both of them. Crispin Glover is the best portrayal - he is reason enough to watch the film.
