Fatuberlio is an East Timorese town in the Fatuberlio administrative office ( Manufahi municipality ).

Place name

The name "Fatuberlio" (also Fatuberliu , Fato Berlia , Fatu-Berliu , Fatu-Berlio , Fatu Berlia , Fatu Berlin , Hato-Berlio ) comes from the Tetum and means “ Stelzen- Berg” in German . 1936 Fatuberlio was used by the Portuguese in Nova Anadia renamed. But the name did not catch on and a few years after the Second World War , the old name was reverted to.

Fatuberlio is located in the interior of the island in Suco Fatucahi as the crow flies about 57 km southeast of the state capital Dili and 28 km east of Same at an altitude of 527  m . It has a helipad.

In 1976 Fatuberlio was a retreat of the FALINTIL , who fought against the Indonesian invaders. Here she founded a base de apoio , a resistance base that offered refuge for refugees from Turiscai , Maubisse , Aileu , Liquiçá and Dili.
