The 2nd men's fistball world championship took place from August 17th to 20th, 1972 in Schweinfurt in the Willy Sachs Stadium . The Federal Republic of Germany hosted the men's fistball world championship for the first time .

In the preliminary round everyone plays against everyone. The top three in the preliminary round play a final round taking into account the results of the preliminary round. The fourth and fifth placed in the preliminary round play for fourth place, the sixth and seventh placed in the preliminary round play for sixth place.
