Award ceremony 2012
The seventh award of the German Theater Prize Der Faust took place on November 10, 2012 in the Erfurt Theater. Cooperation partners for the German Theater Prize are the German Stage Association , the Cultural Foundation of the Federal States and the German Academy of Performing Arts . The Free State of Thuringia was co-organizer and sponsor in 2012. For the second time since 2011, the Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Hessen-Thüringen was a partner and sponsor of the event.

- Life's work: Tankred Dorst together with his wife and co-author Ursula Ehler
- President's Prize: Matthias Lilienthal for his innovative and formative, cross-genre and cross-border program developments
