The Faust Award 2017 , the twelfth award of the German Theater Prize Der Faust , took place on November 3, 2017 at the Schauspiel Leipzig and was moderated by Christian Friedel .

The nominations were announced on September 15, 2017, and Elfriede Jelinek received the Lifetime Achievement Award . Nikolaus Habjan accepted the award on behalf of Jelinek . He came on stage with a Jelinek hand puppet and let them speak their acceptance speech. The award was sponsored in 2017 by the Free State of Saxony , the City of Leipzig , the Cultural Foundation of the Federal States , the German Academy of Performing Arts and the German Stage Association. Cooperation partners were the German Stage Association of Saxony and the location campaign “So geht sächsisch”.
