Febuprol is a drug from the group of choleretics , that is, it stimulates bile secretion . It also has spasmolytic (antispasmodic) and lipid-lowering (blood lipid lowering) properties.

The drug has a stereocenter, so it is chiral and is present as a racemate [1: 1 mixture of the ( R ) isomer and the ( S ) isomer].
