Felice Cece (born March 2, 1936 in Cimitile , Province of Naples , Italy , † May 12, 2020 in Castellammare di Stabia ) was an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Sorrento-Castellammare di Stabia .

Life

Felice Cece attended the Episcopal Seminary of Nola , the Regional Seminary of Salerno and the Pontifical Seminary of Campania . He studied theology at the Pontifical Faculty of Posillipo and philosophy at the University of Naples. On July 5, 1959, he was ordained a priest for the diocese of Nola by Bishop Adolfo Binni in the Cathedral of Nola . He was assistant to Catholic Action, professor of dogmatic theology at the regional seminary of Benevento and lecturer in history and philosophy at the parish college of Nola, director of the theological school "Giovanni Duns Scoto", director of the catechetical office and episcopal vicar.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Calvi and Teano on August 17, 1984 . He was ordained episcopal in the cathedral of Nola by the Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops , Cardinal Bernardin Gantin , on October 20th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Giuseppe Costanzo , Bishop of Nola, and Matteo Guido Sperandeo , Bishop Emeritus of Calvi and Teano. In 1987 he became secretary of the Episcopal Conference of Campania. In 1988 he also became Apostolic Administrator in Sorrento-Castellammare di Stabia.

On February 8, 1989, Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Sorrento-Castellammare di Stabia. Pope Benedict XVI accepted on March 10, 2012 Felice Cece's application for resignation for reasons of age.
