Felix Czerny (basketball coach)

Felix Maximilian Czerny (born April 23, 1984 in Tuttlingen ) is a German basketball coach .

career

Czerny played basketball at the Urspring School from the age of 14 . In the summer of 2002 he took part in the European championship in his own country with the German junior national team. In 2003 he was promoted to the 2nd basketball league with TSG Ehingen under coach Ralph Junge  . In the 2004/05 game year, the 1.94 meter tall winger was part of the University of San Francisco  ( United States ) squad and was used in 13 games (0.7 points on average). A herniated disc troubled Czerny during his time at college. During the summer break in 2005, he signed a three-year contract with the Bundesliga club Tigers Tübingen , but ultimately did not play in the Bundesliga . Due to his back problems, Czerny had to stop his playing career in 2006.

From January 2007 Czerny worked as a trainer at the Urspring School. Under his leadership, the boarding school team won the German U19 championship in 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011. Together with Ralph Junge, he promoted later Bundesliga professionals such as Christian Standhardinger , Maurice Stuckey and Malik Müller at the Urspring School . On July 1, 2012, Czerny moved to the youth department of FC Bayern Munich and was responsible for Bayern's U19 team in the youth basketball league until 2014 . After leaving Munich, Czerny trained, among other things, as an intern from top European clubs and was part of the staff of the second division club Nürnberger BC during a tournament tour in China as well as a selection of Nuremberg and Urspringer players during a tournament participation in the United States.

In spring 2016 he was introduced as the sporting director of the youth department of the second division club Nürnberger BC. The future of Nuremberg professional basketball was on the brink during these months, Czerny moved from Nuremberg to Ludwigsburg in the summer of 2016 and took over as head coach of the U19 team at the basketball academy there.

At the beginning of July 2018, Czerny became head coach of FC Baunach ( 2nd Bundesliga ProA ), the training team of Bundesliga club Brose Bamberg . In February 2019 he was released in Baunach after the team was bottom of the table at that time, had lost nine of the previous ten games and had a total of five wins and 19 defeats. He began training as a naturopath .
