Felix Meier (born August 20, 1936 in Lieskau , † July 16, 2019 in Datteln ) was a German politician. He was Minister for Electrical Engineering and Electronics of the GDR .

Life

As the son of a worker, after attending secondary school and graduating from high school, he studied low-voltage technology from 1954 to 1960 at the Technical University of Dresden , was a development engineer at VEB Funkmechanik Leipzig from 1960 to 1962 , and from 1962 to 1967 director of technology and director of planning at VVB Communications and measurement technology Leipzig and from 1967 to 1978 plant director of the VEB Funkwerk Köpenick in Köpenick .

Meier joined the SED in 1963 . From 1969 to 1978 he was a member of the SED district leadership Berlin-Köpenick, from 1978 to 1979 secretary of the district leadership Berlin-Lichtenberg and from February 1979 to 1984 member and until October 1982 secretary for economic policy of the SED district leadership Berlin. From 1981 to March 1990 he was a member of the People's Chamber and from September 1982 to November 1989 Minister for Electrical Engineering and Electronics.
