Ministry of Electrical Engineering and Electronics
The Ministry of Electrical Engineering and Electronics was a central organ of the Council of Ministers for guidance and control in the planning of the electro-technical and electronic industry in the GDR from 1966 to 1990.
The Ministry was founded on February 1, 1966 with a Council of Ministers resolution of December 22, 1965 and the Council of State's decree on the further development and simplification of state management activities in the 2nd stage of the New Economic System of Planning and Management of January 14, 1966. The seat of the ministry was in the house of the electrical industry at Alexanderplatz 6 in Berlin.
The legal predecessor of the Ministry of Electrical Engineering and Electronics was the Department of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Scientific Device Construction of the National Economic Council .
With the decision on the establishment and dissolution of ministries and central state organs of December 21, 1989 (Journal of Laws of I No. 26, p. 272 of December 29, 1989), the Ministry of Mechanical Engineering formed on January 1, 1990 became the legal successor to the dissolved ministry for electrical engineering and electronics.
