Ministry of Science and Technology

The Ministry of Science and Technology ( MWT ) was an institution or an advisory body of the Council of Ministers of the GDR , which is responsible for setting priorities and supervising scientific and technical research and development work in connection with economic planning for academies, universities, colleges and research and development institutions of the Ministries and companies were responsible for coordinating. The aim was a centrally managed research planning. In addition, there was coordination of scientific and technical cooperation in the Council for Mutual Economic Aid (Comecon).

From the later State Secretariat for Research and Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MWT) was formed on July 13, 1967.

Successors from April to October 1990 were the Ministry of Research and Technology and the Ministry of Education and Science.
