Peter-Klaus Budig
Peter-Klaus Budig (born July 15, 1928 in Sagan , Silesia ; † November 25, 2012 in Chemnitz ) was a German university professor and politician of the GDR block party LDPD . From 1989 to 1990 he was Minister for Science and Technology of the GDR .
Life
Budig, the son of a farmer, attended elementary and high school and graduated from high school in 1947. In 1947 he became a member of the Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB) and in 1948 of the Liberal Democratic Party of Germany (LDPD). From 1948 to 1953 he studied heavy current engineering at the Technical University of Dresden , where he was an assistant until 1955. Afterwards he was an engineer and later technical director at VEB Elektromaschinenbau Dresden-Niedersedlitz , known as VEM Sachsenwerk.
From 1961 he taught at the Dresden University of Transport and was a member of the GDR Research Council . From 1966 to 1968 he was professor at the Technical University of Karl-Marx-Stadt (since 1986 Technical University ) and from 1968 to 1984 director of the automation technology section at the TH Karl-Marx-Stadt. From 1978 to 1990 he was Vice President of the Chamber of Technology (KDT) and, succeeding Dagmar Hülsenberg, from 1992 until the dissolution of the KDT, he was President of the “Ingenieurtechnischer Verband KDT e. V. ".
Politically, he was active as a member of the National Council of the National Front from 1969 to 1982 (Presidents: Erich Correns , Lothar Kolditz ) and from 1982 to 1990 as a member of the LDPD's central board . In 1989/90 he was a member of the Political Committee of the LDPD Central Board. From November 1989 to April 1990 he was Minister for Science and Technology in the GDR government Hans Modrow , which was followed by the last GDR government Lothar de Maizière . Then he worked again as a professor at the Technical University of Chemnitz in the chair for electrical machines and drives. After working as a professor, he founded the company Electrical Automation and Drive Technology (EAAT) Chemnitz with Heinz Gräf in 1993 .
Budig died at the age of 84 and was buried in the St. Michaelis cemetery in Altchemnitz .
Honors
- 1970: National Prize 2nd class for science and technology as a member of the "Linear Motor" collective at the Technical University of Karl-Marx-Stadt ("for his part in researching the theoretical principles for calculating three-phase linear motors and their introduction into production")
- 1988: Honorary doctorate from Tallinn University of Technology
- 1989: Honored university professor of the German Democratic Republic
- 2010: Saxon Order of Merit
