Félix Standaert

Félix Stanislas Octave Marie Joseph Standaert (born March 26, 1922 in Kalmthout , † 2006 in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre / Sint-Pieters-Woluwe , Brussels) was a Belgian diplomat .

Life

Félix Standaert was the son of Albert Louis Marie Joseph Standaert (born March 14, 1889 in Bruges), an entrepreneur. He studied at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and received his doctorate in law . From 1950 to 1953 he was the third class embassy secretary in Cologne . From 1953 to 1956 he was the second class embassy secretary in Warsaw . In 1958 Standaert was consul general in Bombay . In 1961 Felix Standaert was consul general in Detroit .

For independence in 1962, Grégoire Kayibanda asked Paul-Henri Spaak to send the previous military resident Guillaume Logiest as the first ambassador to Rwanda . This request was granted. In 1963 Felix Standaert presented his letter of accreditation as ambassador to Kayibanda in Kigali . Prime Minister Moïse Tschombé founded the Office d'assistance technique et de reconstruction administrative , (OATRA) on October 1, 1964 with Decree No. 842 . In this Belgian administration for the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Standaert was supposed to hold a leading position. In 1967 Standaert was counselor in Rome .

From 1969 to 1973 he was ambassador to Tunis, Tunisia. From 1975 to 1976 he represented the Belgian government in the EU. From January 10, 1977 to 1980, he was ambassador to the Holy See . From 1982 to 1984 he was ambassador in Athens to the Greek government. From 1986 to 1987 he was ambassador to Stockholm . In 1990 he was an employee of the Coudenberg group .
