The Fenneregg , also Fennereck or Fenner Eck ( 3123  m above sea level ) is a summit in the Rieserferner Group and is located on the Austrian-Italian border between East and South Tyrol . The summit is near the Lenkstein and the Rosshorn . It has neither a summit cross nor a stamp and is often climbed as an additional summit on the way to Lenkstein. On the summit there is only a boundary stone and a small stone man with a wooden pole. The slopes on the East Tyrolean side are in the Hohe Tauern National Park , the South Tyrolean part of the mountain is protected in the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park .

Increase opportunities

The ascent to the Fenneregg is mainly via the Patscher Valley and the Barmer Hut (2610 m). From the hut, the marked ascent initially descends north to the location of the old Barmer hut, which was destroyed by an avalanche, and then continues flat over granite blocks. The ascent takes place over the hillside terraces of the Rosshornscharte littered with blocks. At the northern end of the slope terrace is the upswing to the Rosshornscharte, secured by steel cables, which requires surefootedness and caution in old snow or wetness. After the Rosshornscharte ( 2916  m above sea level ) the path leads west over blocks into a shallow block hollow from which the Fenneregg can be reached quickly. The marked path, however, continues from the block hollow to a saddle and on to the Lenkstein.

Another possibility for the ascent to the Fennereck is via the South Tyrolean Bachertal, a side valley of the Reintal . The ascent to the Lenksteinjoch takes place via different variants of the Arthur-Hartdegen-Weg. The Kasseler Hütte (also Hochgallhütte, 2,276 m) can be used as a base. A third possibility of ascent consists of the Hinteren Defereggental from the Seebachalm. The path first leads through the Seebach valley into the Platten and over the Fleischbachkees to the Rosshornscharte.
