The Barmer Hut is the Alpine Club Hut of the Barmen section of the German Alpine Club . It lies at an altitude of 2610 m above sea level. A. in the Patscher Tal below the Hochgall ( 3436 m ) in the Defereggental ( East Tyrol ). It is one of the less visited bases in the Eastern Alps. For day hikers it can be reached from the Patscher Alm or the Staller Sattel. The peaks that can be reached from the Barmer Hütte include the Hochgall and Lenkstein , among others . In winter, ski tours are also carried out in the area around the hut.
history
The original (old) Barmer hut was built in 1900 about 90 meters below the current location and completely destroyed by an avalanche in 1956. After the construction of an access road through the Patscher Valley and a material ropeway to the construction site, the new Barmer Hut could be completed by 1959.
Ascent
- From the parking lot at the Patscher Alm (toll road) through the Patscher Valley, walking time: approx. 2.5 hours (suitable for day visitors)
- From Obersee at the Staller Sattel over the Jägerscharte, walking time: approx. 3 hours (difficult, with wire rope and glacier crossing)
- From Lake Antholz (South Tyrol) over the Riepenscharte, walking time: approx. 4 hours

Climbing opportunities
- Climbing garden Koblenzer Wand (or Rampleter Wand ) with routes up to 6th level of difficulty (partly fragile). There are no climbing peaks in the hut area.
Transition to other huts
- To the Oberseehütte via Jägerscharte ( 2780 m ), walking time: 3½-4 hours
- to the Kasseler Hütte (Hochgallhütte) ( 2276 m ) via the Lenkstein or the Hochgall , walking time: 5 hours
- To the Oberhausalm via Roßhornscharte ( 2916 m ), walking time: 5–6 hours
