Ferdinand Chevalier

Ferdinand Chevalier (* 1835 in Trier , Rhine Province ; † after 1890) was a Belgian landscape painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Chevalier studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1855 to 1861 . There were Josef Wintergerst and Andreas Müller (elementary class, 1855), Christian Köhler (Antikensaal, 1855/1856), Rudolf Wiegmann (building class, 1856), Karl Müller (2nd painting class, 1857) and Hans Fredrik Gude (landscape classes , 1860/1861 ) his teachers. He took private lessons in the studio of the respected landscape painter Andreas Achenbach . After completing his studies, Chevalier lived in Brussels and created romantic landscapes, often as a result of studies or as open-air painting from the mountains, for example from the area of Stavelot and the High Fens . Its activities are documented until around 1890. In 1874 he exhibited a winter landscape in Dresden .
