Ferdinand Staudinger

Ferdinand Staudinger (born May 28, 1933 in Langschlag , Lower Austria ; † October 25, 2018 in Zwettl , Lower Austria) was an Austrian biblical scholar , Roman Catholic clergyman and university professor .

Life

Staudinger attended the Stiftsgymnasium Melk , where he graduated in 1955. From 1955 to 1960 he studied at the Philosophical-Theological University in St. Pölten , in 1960 he was ordained a priest and then worked as a chaplain . From 1961 to 1964 he studied Biblical Exegesis at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome , from 1963 as a licentiate . He worked as a stenographer in the minutes of the negotiations of the Second Vatican Council . In 1965 he was at the University of Graz for Dr. theol. PhD.

From 1964 until his retirement on October 1, 2006, he was Professor of Biblical Studies of the New Testament at the PTH St. Pölten and also dean of the university several times. He also taught at the University of Vienna , the Krems University of Education and the philosophical-theological universities in St. Gabriel , Linz and Heiligenkreuz . From 1983 to 1988 he was Regens of the seminary of the diocese of St. Pölten . He was also the cathedral scholar of St. Pölten and had worked on the diocesan marriage court since 1966.

He was a member of the Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas (since 1976), the Austrian Catholic Bibles and the Association of Austrian Librarians . His main research interests were the Synoptic Gospels and the Epistle of Paul to the Romans .

Ferdinand Staudinger died on the night of October 25th to 26th, 2018 in a nursing home in Zwettl.
