Ferdinand von Oheimb

Ferdinand Friedrich Wilhelm Alexander von Oheimb (born June 23, 1817 in Enzen, today Stadthagen ; † October 21, 1905 at Gut Hudenbeck , today Prussian Oldendorf ) was a German politician and civil servant. From 1871 to 1894 he was the royal district administrator of the Prussian district of Lübbecke in Westphalia , a privy councilor, Knight of Honor of the Order of St. John, and president of the Westphalian provincial council.

Ferdinand von Oheimb was born on June 23, 1817 as a member of a family of the Lower Saxon nobility in Enzen in the Principality of Schaumburg-Lippe . His parents were Friedrich Wilhelm Christian von Oheimb (* November 8, 1770 - December 29, 1848), Herr auf Enzen and his wife Eleonore von Ledebur (* November 7, 1783 - May 3, 1818), who owned the Holzhausen manor in 1812 (today: Haus des Gastes) and in 1813 bought the Hudenbeck and Brüggehof manors. His brother Alexander von Oheimb was the district administrator of the Minden district .

Until 1835 he attended the pedagogy in Halle . In 1835 he joined the 7th Cuirassier Regiment of the Prussian Army, and in 1848 he was dismissed from military service with the rank of Premier-Lieutenant. The manor ´Brüggehof´ between today's Bad Holzhauser streets ´Große Aue´, ´Berliner Straße´ and ´Bahnhofstraße´ no longer existed at that time.

In 1855 he was elected district deputy in the district council of the Lübbecke district. From March 2, 1857 to June 30, 1857 he was entrusted with the administration of the district office in the Lübbecke district, a new assignment took place on March 25, 1869. On October 29, 1870 the district council of the Lübbecke district elected him with seventeen to two votes 1. Candidates for the District Office. On January 6, 1871, Ferdinand von Oheimb was appointed district administrator. In 1894 he ended his work as district administrator at his own request at the age of 77. Ferdinand von Oheimb died in 1905 on his manor in Holzhausen in the Lübbecke district.

At that time the district assembly consisted of seven manor owners of the district, one member of the city of Lübbecke and eleven members of the district's offices. The district administration consisted of the royal district administrator von Oheimb, a district secretary, a district messenger, a district municipal treasurer, a building supervisor and a road supervisor with his 13 local road attendants. The district administrator's business was often carried out from his place of residence. However, by cabinet decree of December 21, 1861 it was decreed that the district offices should no longer be located on the manors.

In 1874 he earned a lasting merit by publishing the brochure "Statistical Representation of the District of Lübbecke, Administrative Region Minden", which contained a wealth of information about the conditions in the District of Lübbecke from the time before 1873. He made significant contributions to the expansion of the road network and the planning of the railway line from Bünde via Holzhausen to Rahden.

Ferdinand von Oheimb was a Protestant and married Elise von Bornstedt on March 6, 1842 (* February 1821, † March 31, 1881). The couple had a daughter:

  • Maria (* 16 Aug 1853 - † February 1941) ⚭ 1879 Bodo von Oheimb (* 18 August 1852 † 21 September 1907) Herr auf Holzhausen (son of his brother Alexander).

Ferdinand von Oheimb died in 1905 on his manor in Holzhausen in the Lübbecke district.
