Ferdinand Graf von Schlippenbach (born December 26, 1799 in Arendsee , † April 25, 1866 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

He was the son of Friedrich Wilhelm Graf von Schlippenbach (born June 16, 1772 in Berlin; † September 20, 1832 in Basedow ) and his wife Karoline Friederike, née Countess von Beust (born August 28, 1772 in Altenburg; † September 18 1826 in Berlin).

Military career

Schlippenbach was employed in the Mecklenburg-Strelitz Hussar Regiment in February 1814 and was involved in the siege of Mézières during the Wars of Liberation in 1814/15 with a patrol corps under Prince Gustav Kalixt Biron von Curland . After the peace treaty Schlippenbach came in May 1816 as a second lieutenant in the 3rd Hussar Regiment and three years later in the 1st Guard Uhlan Regiment . On September 19, 1821, he was transferred to the 2nd Guards Uhlan Regiment , in which Schlippenbach rose to major and staff officer until October 1848 . From October 14, 1848 to March 10, 1852 he was in command of the 7th Cuirassier Regiment . Schlippenbach then commanded the 6th Cuirassier Regiment . He gave up this command on July 12, 1854, was appointed commander of the 9th Cavalry Brigade, and a month later he was appointed à la suite of his old regiment. On July 12, 1855, he was promoted to major general and on January 10, 1857 he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves, for his many years of service. As lieutenant general , Schlippenbach was put up for disposal on December 3, 1858 with a pension .

After his death on April 28, 1866, he was buried in the Dorotheenstädtischer Friedhof in Berlin.

Schlippenbach was a legal knight of the Order of St. John .

family

He married Ottilie Albertine Eleonore Juliane Countess von der Schulenburg from Angern on July 4, 1829 in Berlin (* September 23, 1805, † January 29, 1871). The marriage resulted in two daughters:

  • Agnes Charlotte Friedrike Wilhelmine Alexandrine (born August 27, 1831 in Berlin) ∞ Adalbert Freiherr von Rosenberg, Prussian chamberlain and envoy in Lisbon
  • Adelheid (born May 15, 1833; † April 7, 1916) ∞ Georg Demetrius von Kleist († May 30, 1886), Prussian lieutenant general, lord of Rheinfeld
