Fernando Rubén Gago (born April 10, 1986 in Ciudadela , Buenos Aires , Argentina ) is an Argentine football player . His position is the central midfield .
Career
In the club
Fernando Gago began his footballer career at Club Social Parque before joining the Boca Juniors youth team . He made his debut in the first squad on December 5, 2004 against Quilmes Atlético Club . In the 2005/06 season he won all five titles (Torneo Apertura , Torneo Clausura, twice the Recopa Sudamericana , Copa Sudamericana ) as a regular player in the central midfield of Boca . Then various European clubs became aware of him. On January 1, 2007, he moved to Real Madrid for a transfer fee of 20.5 million euros . He made his debut in the 2-0 loss to Deportivo La Coruña on January 7, 2007.
After being in the squad of Royal had played only a supporting role for some time, Real Madrid loaned him to the 2011/12 season at AS Roma from. Instead of returning to the season in the Spanish capital, Gago joined the 2012/13 season for FC Valencia .
In the national team
Fernando Gago won the U20 World Cup in the Netherlands in 2005 together with players like Lionel Messi and Sergio Agüero . On February 7, 2007, he finally celebrated his debut against France in the Argentine national football team . Gago was part of the winning Argentine selection at the 2008 Olympic soccer tournament in China.
