The tasks of defensive fire protection and assistance are ensured in Pforzheim by a professional fire brigade and eight volunteer fire brigades .

history

The Pforzheim fire brigade was founded on June 7th, 1858, the first in command was Adolf Kiehnle.

The incorporation of the surrounding communities not only made the city bigger, but also the fire department. In 1905 the Brötzingen volunteer fire brigade, founded in 1871, became a division of the Pforzheim volunteer fire brigade. 100 years after being taken over by the Pforzheim Volunteer Fire Brigade, the Brötzingen department was merged with the Weststadt department to form a new Brötzingen / Weststadt department. In 1913 the fire brigade of the village of Dillweißstein, founded in 1880, became a further department of the Pforzheim volunteer fire brigade. Until 1975, the city's fire department was a volunteer fire department (FF). At times, however, there were full-time workers from the 1950s. Due to the incorporation as a result of the district reform , the city of Pforzheim grew to over 100,000 inhabitants, which made it necessary to set up a professional fire department (BF) according to the fire brigade law of the state of Baden-Württemberg . In the years after 1970, the volunteer fire brigade grew by further departments due to further incorporation of localities. In 1971 the Würm volunteer fire brigade, the Hohenwart volunteer fire brigade in 1973, the Büchenbronn and Huchenfeld volunteer fire brigades in 1974 and the Eutingen volunteer fire brigade in 1975 were added as new departments.

organization

The fire brigade is located as specialist office 37 of the city of Pforzheim in Department IV. The professional fire brigade has 85 officers from the fire service. The fire department also has 10 civilian employees (disaster control, technical service and administration). The departments of the volunteer fire brigade have around 330 volunteers in eight departments.

The main fire station is on the Enz in Habermehlstrasse 77 (next to the measuring station). The building of the main fire station cannot be overlooked by the approximately 25 meter high drying tower for the hoses.

The fire brigade is headed by the chief officer and fire brigade commander and chief fire director Sebastian Fischer. The deputy commanders are Chief Fire Officer Guido Lobermann, Fire Chief Sonja Störzbach and Chief Fire Chief Gerd Hartmann (volunteer fire brigade). The youth fire brigade is part of the volunteer fire brigade. City youth fire brigade is Markus Klittich.

Subject areas and departments

Office 37 - Fire Brigade and Civil Protection - is responsible for product groups 1260 (fire protection) and 1280 (disaster control) of the new municipal budget law. Internally, the office is divided into three departments with seven subject areas:

The integrated control center Pforzheim-Enzkreis is operated jointly with the DRK district association and the Enzkreis district office.

Department 2 Central Services

Expert reports in the field of fire protection are prepared here, and expert advice and construction supervision for special properties are carried out. Fire prevention shows are held together with the building law office. Furthermore, the fire alarm systems, hazard alarm, extinguishing and smoke extraction systems are supervised here. In addition, this subject area offers and conducts fire protection education for children and schoolchildren as well as fire protection instruction for companies and companies.

Subject 37/22 Technology / Buildings

The department is responsible for the procurement, maintenance, repair and testing of the fire-fighting equipment of the vehicles and their own, protective clothing as well as their cleaning in our own washing center, hygiene and occupational safety and building maintenance.

Subject 37/23 Disaster control / preparation for operations

The task of the department is, among other things, civil and civil protection, resource and personnel management in disaster control and the creation of special action plans and fire brigade plans.

Professional fire brigade

The professional fire brigade is divided into the guard departments A, B and C.

Guard department A

Shift duty with three shift groups (A10 / A20 / A30) with 18 men each. These include a head of the guard department, a deputy and 16 men in universal positions, four of which are also used as dispatchers for the integrated control center. When they are not alerted, these officials work in the workshops of the main fire station, mostly in the area of their learned profession. They perform their duty in a fixed rhythm of day duty (7:30 am to 4:30 pm), night duty (4:30 pm to 7:30 am) and 24-hour duty (7:30 am to 7:30 am). This rhythm is designed as follows:

  • 1st week: Monday - Thursday day shift
  • 2nd week: Monday and Wednesday night shift, Friday and Sunday 24-hour shift
  • 3rd week: Tuesday and Thursday night shift, Saturday 24-hour shift

Guard department B

Main dispatchers / situation managers of the fire brigade control center. They alternate between day (7:30 am to 6:30 pm) and night (6:30 pm to 7:30 am) on duty. They travel six weeks per year on the fire engine, rescue train or dangerous goods train.

Guard Department C

The guard department C provides the day duty.

Guard department C10

The watch department C10 provides the A-Dienst (formerly: Commander of the duty) . A civil servant of the higher fire brigade service provides 24 hours on-call duty from the office or from home after the end of working hours and is alerted at certain alarm levels or key words. During their service time they work as heads of the specialist office or as department heads.

Guard department C20

The security department C20 is the B-Dienst group (formerly: Einsatzleiter vom Dienst) group. These are officials of the higher fire service. One of these officers is on duty at the main fire station for 24 hours and drives to the scene of operations as the first responsible operations manager. When there is no alarm, you work as a department manager or deputy department manager.

Guard department C30

The security department C30 are officials of the day service and perform their duty as clerks or workshop managers in order to give continuity to their assigned activities. They are officials of the upper and the middle fire service. A second rescue vehicle and certain special functions are manned by the day-to-day service from Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., as the daily availability of the volunteer fire brigade is very limited during this time.

Integrated control center

The city of Pforzheim operates together with the Enzkreis and the German Red Cross Kreisverband Pforzheim e. V. an integrated control center for the fire brigade, disaster control and rescue service departments. Here, two officers from the middle fire service and two rescue assistants from the DRK are on duty around the clock. In addition to the mission-related activities, they also take on service activities for third parties, so the municipal utility's fault reporting center and the service number of the health insurance company emergency service appear in the control center after work. In July 2010, after decades of negotiations, the way was cleared for the creation of an integrated control center required by law. This started operations in October 2015 in a building belonging to Stadtwerke Pforzheim GmbH in the Brötzinger Valley.

Voluntary departments

In addition to the professional fire department, there are 8 departments of the volunteer fire department in the city districts and in the city center. They are headed by a department commander elected from among the team. These departments are initially responsible for their extinguishing district and act as a supplement to the unit of the professional fire brigade or handle smaller or duplicate operations on their own responsibility, e.g. B. in major storms. Alerting the volunteers is still dependent on the time and day. During the so-called alarm time A (on weekdays 7:30 am–4:30pm), two rescue vehicles are manned by the professional fire brigade; During the alarm time B (4: 30–7: 30 a.m. and Sundays) the second fire engine is provided by the volunteer fire brigade. Only in the districts of Hohenwart , Huchenfeld and areas of Eutingen is the local department of the volunteer fire brigade always alerted to ensure the relief deadline. In addition, the departments are assigned special tasks and special vehicles, e.g. B. the Dillweisestein department is responsible for catering / logistics and supplies, the Eutingen department is responsible for the decontamination of people and the Brötzingen - Weststadt department is the city's second turntable ladder. The department numbers are also part of the call names of the vehicles, so Florian Pforzheim 3/21 is a fire truck from the Haidach department . These numbers also correspond to the order in which the departments emerged within the city or in which formerly independent municipal fire brigades were incorporated into the fire department.
