Ficătar (German: Fekete , Hungarian: Feketeér ) is a village in Timiș County , in the Banat region , in south-western Romania . Ficătar belongs to the Racovița municipality .

Geographical location

Ficătar is located in the center of Timiș County, on the Temeschufer , 17 km west of Lugoj .

history

Over the centuries, different spellings of the place name appeared: 1320 Fyghatar , 1467 Feketheer , 1717 Vigetar , 1808 Fikatár , 1913 Feketeér , 1919 Ficătar and Fikatár .

The first written mention of Fyghatar comes from the year 1320. The place name appears in several medieval documents and is mentioned several times during the Turkish rule.

On the census of 1717 Viketer is registered with 18 houses and belongs to the district of Făget . After the Peace of Passarowitz (1718) the village was part of the Habsburg crown domain Temescher Banat . On the Mercy map from 1723, the place Ficatar is inhabited and belongs to the Lugoj district .

As a result of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise (1867), the Banat was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary within the dual monarchy of Austria-Hungary . The official place name was Feketeér .

The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the triple division of the Banat , whereby Ficătar fell to the Kingdom of Romania . In the interwar period, Ficătar belonged to the Buziaș district in the Timiș- Toronto Valley district .
