The 15th century Gothic building was redesigned in the 17th century by extending the nave to the west and adding two aisles. The eastern nave is crowned by a wooden roof turret . The building is clapboard . Buttresses support the aisles and the choir. During a restoration in 1986, a fragment of a Gothic frieze on the choir was exposed. The addition of the sacristy in the northern corner of the choir comes from the late Gothic period. The north portal has a Gothic garment , the sacristy portal has a stucco frame and an iron door from the 17th century. The church is entered through a pointed arched, profiled west portal with a door with Gothic fittings.

The two original central nave bays are vaulted with cross ribs from the beginning of the 15th century, the west bay and the side aisles with baroque cross ridges. A ribbed vault with relief consoles and keystones rises above the slightly drawn-in choir with tracery windows . Animals, coats of arms, a pelican and the Lamb of God are depicted on the keystones.

In 1965/66, frescoes created around 1420–1430 were exposed in the choir. The vault is decorated with a starry sky. On the north wall of the choir, the frescoes show Saints Catherine , Radegundis and probably Apollonia in a stenciled ornamental frame . A fragment of an Annunciation scene can be found on the south wall of the choir .

The stained glass on the windows in the sloping choir dates from the same time as the frescoes. The north window shows Saints John the Baptist , Georg , Wolfgang , Florian , Margarete , Ursula , Nikolaus and Martin . On the south side, next to a Madonna and Child and six apostle figures, the saints Barbara , Agnes , Katharina and Leonhard are depicted, the latter of which was not made until 1935. The tracery of both windows is filled with ornaments.

Facility

The high altar

The high altar, made around 1670, was supplemented by the antependium in the 18th century . The altar consists of an aedicule over a base, lateral canopy arches and a split segment gable with a small top aedicule. The center of the altar is the Madonna created in 1969 by Kurt Campidell . It is a copy of a stolen late Gothic statue from around 1500. The figures of two bishops from the 18th century stand under the lateral canopy arches. The top picture shows the meeting of Anna and Joachim at the golden gate. The altar is crowned with a Marian monogram in a halo .

The two side altars from around 1680 have statues from the 18th century. The representation of Mary's teaching by her mother Anna in the shrine of the left altar is flanked by Saints Margaretha and Catherine. The upper picture shows the stigmatization of St. Francis of Assisi . On the right altar, next to the baptism of Christ, two holy bishops can be seen. In the top picture, Saint Anthony of Padua is shown with a child and animals; the year 1681 can be read.

The pulpit from the last quarter of the 17th century is used today as an ambo . Of the four painted evangelists in the parapet, only Matthew and John are left. A small late-Gothic crucifix from the first quarter of the 15th century hangs on the south wall of the choir. The console statues of St. Oswald from the end of the 17th century and St. Laurentius from the beginning of the 18th century are attached to the triumphal arch wall. The apostle luster was made around 1800. A painting of the Holy Family from the end of the 18th century hangs on the west wall . The organ was built in the early 18th century.
