Finkenhain is a district of the municipality of Dipperz in the eastern Hessian district of Fulda . With around 70 inhabitants, it is one of the two smallest districts.

Geographical location

Finkenhain is around three kilometers from the core town of Dipperz and is located southeast of it on the sparsely forested summit of the Schnegelsberg ( 509.6  m ) in the Rhön . The area belongs to the valley system of the Wanne , a right eastern tributary of the Haune . The district area is 233 hectares (1961), 32 hectares of which are forested.

history

Finkenhain was newly formed on July 1, 1850 from parts of Friesenhausen. In 1856 the place consisted of the courtyards Mordgraben, Finkberg, Gigenberg, Kohlberg, Steinwandhöfe, Birkenhof and Stöckeshof .

In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , the last small communities like Finkenhain lost their independence by virtue of the law. Thus, with effect from August 1, 1972, the municipalities of Armenhof , Dipperz, Dörmbach , Finkenhain, Friesenhausen , Kohlgrund , Wisselsrod and Wolferts were merged into one municipality with the name Dipperz .

traffic

The district road 21 leads through Finkenhain , from which the K 24 branches off on the eastern edge of the village .
