The Fischergraben is an approximately 1.1 km long tributary of the Mittelriede in Braunschweig , which drains the pond area in the Riddagshausen nature reserve and is partly cut into the wet meadows in Gliesmarode .

geography

The Fischergraben arises from the runoff of the Schapenbruch pond near the fishery that is believed to be named after it. It flows around the middle pond and the cross pond on the west side of the lakes parallel to the Fischerweg in a south-westerly direction. The footbridge over the moat between Fischerweg and the street Am Hasselteich was renewed after extensive desludging work on the moat and was inaugurated in December 2018.

At the Messeweg, the ditch is submerged and enters a largely natural meadow between Walkholzweg and Gänsekamp. The outflow from the Kreuzteich, which is called the Weddeler Graben on some maps, also runs in this meadow . Both streams unite at the end of the meadow, whereby the Fischergraben has recently been expanded with flow guides and meanders. While the confluence with the honeycomb is shown in old maps, today the stream is routed underground behind a grating and only comes back to the daylight south of the crossing honeycomb directly at the Wabe-Mittelriede tee building. After a few meters it joins the overpass ditch that runs parallel to the Mutterkamp. Here, a stop log closure and a pipe under the path ensure a drain into the area of the former sports field and further into the wooded areas between Wabe and Mittelriede. There are several flood drains into the Mittelriede, so that in all water locations it can be assumed that the fishing trench flows into the Mittelriede.

Individual evidence

  2. New bridge in Riddagshausen is heavily used. Braunschweiger Zeitung, December 4, 2018, accessed on April 28, 2019 .
  3. Note: In the Weser land register, a section of the honeycomb between Ebertallee and Weddeler Graben is specified (GKZ 4828879), which suggests that the outflow from the Kreuzteich is classified as Weddeler Graben. This is only possible in the event of floods, as the bottom of the trench is apparently lower than the water level of the New Bleeksteich. In addition, all planning documents of the city of Braunschweig refer to the canal between Bleeksteich and the honeycomb on Ebertallee.
