Flodoard Woldemar Freiherr von Biedermann (born March 14, 1858 in Chemnitz , † October 19, 1934 in Berlin ), literary historian, publisher and editor.

Life

He was the son of the Goethe researcher Gustav Woldemar von Biedermann , his mother was Antonie, née von Trützschler. He attended the royal high school in Leipzig , completed an apprenticeship as a bookseller and became editor of the magazines Der Baumeister and Typographische Monatshefte in Berlin and headed the department for bibliophile prints at H. Berthold AG in Berlin, then he founded his own publishing house, "FW Biedermann" in Leipzig . The first edition of Goethe's Conversations by Woldemar von Biedermann appeared in this publishing house in 1889 . Through the Berlin Friedrich-Wilhelms University , he was on 14 March 1928, the title Dr. phil. hc awarded. He was a member of numerous scientific and social associations, since 1885 a member of the Swabian Schiller Association in Marbach , from 1906 to 1934 he was 1st chairman of the Berlin Bibliophile Evening and on the board of the Goethe Society Weimar and 1st chairman of the Berlin journalists and writers' association . His estate is at the Berlin State Library .
