Florentin Dumitru (born May 25, 1977 in Bolintin-Vale ) is a former Romanian football player . He played a total of 310 games in League 1 . In 2001 and 2005, the full-back won the Romanian championship with Steaua Bucharest .
Career
In 1996 Dumitru came into the first team squad of his club Sportul Studenţesc , who at that time Romania in the first football league, the Divizia A , played. He became a regular in the first year and was able to finish the 1996/97 season in twelfth place. At the end of the following season he had to relegate his team. He moved to promoted Astra Ploieşti . There he secured himself with his team in the 1998/99 season to stay in the class.
At the beginning of 2000 the Romanian record champions Steaua signed Bucharest Dumitru. At first he only came up with fewer stakes. In the 2000/01 season he was also a regular at Steaua and won his first title at the end of the season with the championship. He was unable to defend this success with his team in the following season. The second title followed in the 2004/05 season .
After he was only used seven times in the first half of 2005/06 , Dumitru left the club in early 2006 to Jiul Petroşani . There he only got a chance four times. In the summer of 2006 he joined FC National Bucharest , with whom he had to relegate at the end of the 2006/07 season . He then hired in Liga II at CS Concordia Chiajna . After the end of the 2007/08 season , his contract was not extended. He was without a club until the beginning of 2010, before Concordia Chiajna signed him again. In summer 2010 he moved to Petrolul Ploieşti . With his new club, he was promoted to League 1 in the 2010/11 season . There he ended his career in 2012 after he had secured relegation with Petrolul .
National team
Dumitru played 17 games for the Romanian national team . He made his debut on February 2, 2000 in a tournament in Cyprus against the selection of Latvia . After he was also used in the other two tournament games, he was no longer appointed by national coach Emerich Jenei and also not nominated for the 2000 European Championship . It was not until November 15, 2000 that he returned to the national team against Yugoslavia under László Bölöni . After further appearances in friendly games, he was on June 2, 2001 against Hungary for the first time in a competitive game on the pitch. Also in the subsequent qualifying games for the 2002 World Cup , he was part of the squad. In the play-off games against Slovenia , however, he was not considered.
In the following internationals, Dumitru was rarely considered. Only in the friendly against Ukraine on August 20, 2003 Anghel Iordănescu brought him back. On May 27, 2004 he came against Ireland for his last appearance.
