history
Angers Loire Airport was opened in 1998, far outside Angers, instead of Angers-Avrillé Airport, which is close to the city. The latter was opened in 1908. During the occupation of France in World War II , he was under the command of the German Wehrmacht . From July to September 1940 the staff and the 1st group of Sturzkampfgeschwader 1 with their Ju 87R were here . Another user was in July / August 1944 a detachment of the 3rd squadron of the local reconnaissance group 13 (3./NAGr.13).
After it opened in 1998, Air France Regional set up its first scheduled connection to its "hub" in Clermont-Ferrand, but it did not pay off. Airlinair then opened a connection with ATR 42 to Lyon. Despite a later stop in Tours, this didn't pay off either. Other equally unsuccessful connections of the British Flybe , the Irish Aer Arann and the Eastern Airways were soon suspended.
In the summer of 2010 there was a weekly connection from Tunisair Express to Tunisia. That year Sun Air began flights to London City. There were also freight lines such as Atlantique Airlines and Aéro Jet Darta. Air Vallée had six connections in 2011.
At the beginning of 2012 there were only British Airways ' London-City flights and Danube Wings ' Nice flights ; the latter were discontinued in early 2013. To this end, Tunisair Express and Air Nostrum carried out charter flights to Tunis and Palma de Mallorca in the summer of 2013.
