The Concepción Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto Internacional Carriel Sur ) is an airport near the city of Concepción in Chile .
The airport has a terminal with four passenger boarding bridges and a 2,300 × 45 m runway made of asphalt. Construction began in 1960 shortly after the severe earthquake in Valdivia in 1960 , and the opening took place on January 3, 1968. In 2010, the airport covered an area of 8,000 hectares.
There are connections to Santiago de Chile , Balmaceda , Punta Arenas , the north of Chile and internationally to Lima , Peru .
