Hamilton Island Airport ( IATA : HTI, ICAO : YBHM) is the airport of Hamilton Island , an island in the Whitsunday Islands group. The airport is partly on heaped land on the southwestern edge of the island. The main users of the airport are the two major low-cost airlines in Australia, Jetstar Airways and Virgin Australia .
The airport suffered badly from the end of Ansett Australia in 2001 . In 2002, the airport was closed for several days after a small plane crashed, killing 6.
