The Reykjavik airport ( Icelandic Reykjavíkurflugvöllur ) is the domestic airport in the Icelandic capital Reykjavik . It is located in the immediate vicinity of the urban area, from which it is bounded to the west and north. In the south lies the sea, in the east the recreational area Öskjuhlíð. International flights (except to Greenland and the Faroe Islands ) are handled via Keflavík Airport, 50 km away .

Incidents
- On January 31, 1951, a Douglas DC-3 / C-47A-10-DK of Flugfélag Islands (now Icelandair) ( aircraft registration TF-ISG) crashed while attempting to land in Reykjavík. The crew had previously canceled an approach due to poor visibility. Some debris was discovered the next day around 18 kilometers from the airport in the Atlantic. All 20 inmates were killed.
