The airfield Braga , in Portuguese "Aeródromo Municipal de Braga-Palmeira" is a Portuguese airport in the district Palmeira about six kilometers north of the city of Braga . With a length of 950 meters, it has a comparatively short runway. It is used exclusively by sport and private aircraft.
The airfield was opened on June 22, 1929 with the landing of a military aircraft from Junkers Flugzeugwerk AG. The Junkers F13 was piloted by Captain Amado da Cunha .
In 1990, a 3.02-kilometer Circuito Vasco Sameiro automobile racing track was built around the Braga airfield . There is also a kart racing track (Kartódromo Internacional de Braga) on the airfield site, the venue for the international karting championships.
