The airfield Vila Real ( Portuguese "Aeródromo Municipal de Vila Real" ) is a Portuguese uncontrolled airfield near the town of Vila Real in the Norte region . It is mainly used by private and sport aircraft. The city center of Vila Real is around 4 kilometers north of the airport.

Until 2008 the airport was used by Aerocondor for business ad hoc charter ( air taxi flights ) for the employees of the nearby industrial companies. There is also a kart racing track (Kartodromo de Vila Real) on the airfield .

In 2018, the Portuguese regional airline Aero VIP served the airport twice a day with Cascais near Lisbon under the SevenAir brand . The flight is part of a north-south connection that connects the cities of Bragança , Vila Real, Viseu , Cascais and Portimão - they are served one after the other on the route.

future

The municipality of Vila Real announced in 2010 that it intends to expand the airport into a municipal airfield. The project, estimated at around 16.5 million euros, will also include the expansion of the runway between 1,500 and 1,800 meters. However, due to the economic crisis in Portugal, the project is currently not being pursued any further.
