The Suhl-Goldlauter airfield is a special airfield in the Thuringian Forest . It has a 570 meter long and 30 meter wide grass runway and is approved for gliders , powered gliders , microlights and powered aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of up to two tons.
Events
In addition to normal flight operations, the Simson meeting in Suhl has been held on the field every year since 2016 .
Incidents
- On 21 January 2001 came during a workshop flight with a helicopter of the type MBB BO 105 S to engine failure . The engine No. 1 and a simultaneous reduction in performance of the engine # 2. The helicopter was able to land undamaged.
- On July 8, 2002, a Glaser DG-300 glider took off in tow . At a height of about twenty meters, the tow came loose. The pilot of the glider then initiated a right turn, with the right wing touching the ground. The aircraft subsequently hit the ground and the pilot was seriously injured.
