The airfield Torgau-Beilrode is a special airfield in Nordsachsen . It has an 800-meter-long and 30-meter-wide grass runway and is approved for gliders , powered gliders , microlights and powered aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of up to two tons.

Incidents

  • On April 27, 2008, a Piaggio P.149 D took off on a flight from Hodenhagen to Görlitz . About an hour and a half later, it was approaching Torgau-Beilrode airfield, circling and with irregular engine running. In the area of ​​the left transverse approach to runway 08, the aircraft tipped over to the left when turning into the final approach and hit the ground. The 67-year-old pilot and his passenger were killed.
  • On August 30, 2008, a Rans S-12 microlight took off . About ten to fifteen seconds after take-off, the engine failed due to a closed fuel cock at a height of about thirty to forty meters. The plane tilted over the right wing and hit the ground. The 44-year-old pilot was fatally injured.
