The Folarskardnuten is a 1933 moh. (South peak) high mountain in Norway . It is located in the province of Viken and belongs to the municipality of Hol . The southern summit represents the highest mountain in the Hallingskarvet massif, the Hallingskarvet National Park and in the former Buskerud province . It is also considered the highest mountain in Norway, south of the Jotunheimen mountains.

The Folarskardnuten has next to the 1933 moh. high south summit still about a second, 1930 moh. high northern summit, the Nordøstre Folarskardnuten . The notch height of the south summit is 917 m. - 955 m. The dominance to the next higher mountain, the Hjelledalstind , is 86.4 km. The gap between the north and south summits is 20 m.
Both peaks are flat and plateau-like and drop several hundred meters steeply in the south and south-east.
Development
Two hiking trails lead to the summit. One from the north, from the shore of Strandavatnet through Raggsteindalen , which can be covered in 7–8 hours, and one from the south, from Haugastøl . The routes are each simply 9-11 km long.
On the Folarsskard Pass , a few hundred meters east of the summit, stands the stone Lordehytta refuge, which was built around 1880 by Charles John Spencer George Canning, III. Baron de Garvagh was built.
