action

Alf Rybjerg is an investigator in a special police unit for white-collar crime in Copenhagen . Since he was seriously injured while on duty, he has had sleep disorders and mental health problems that he hides from his fellow men. In one mission he helps arrest a drug dealer and confiscate 350 kg of hashish . During another mission, he discovered a room in an underground storage room with the bodies of eight Romanians , including a child. After it has been found that the adult dead are, according to the documents, wealthy company owners, Alf will be in charge of the further investigation into this case.

Meanwhile, criminal Nicky is working - ostensibly on behalf of the Spanish drug lord Marco - to build up the market for hashish in Denmark. To launder the money from the drug business, he uses a juice bar and an exchange office , the owners of which cooperate with him. With the help of an informant at the police station, he has an entry removed from his police file and learns for the first time that he has a son who lives with foster parents. Desiring a family life, he applies to the youth welfare office for custody of the boy. As the episodes progress, he reinforces his family life.

Alf and his team find out that the Romanians succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning and that their death appears to have been an accident. In addition, they are said to have been used as straw men for financial transactions, because the money in their accounts was withdrawn shortly before their death. The storage room had been rented on behalf of Marco and was used to temporarily store hashish. During the investigation, Alf's team comes across Jawad's exchange office and discovers that he is hiding something because of an interruption in the surveillance video. The team therefore begins to observe the exchange office. This made the team aware of Kim Prami, whose cell phone was used to call Romania. When he was arrested, the investigators discovered half a ton of hashish in his garage. For Alf's boss Kim Storm, Prami remains the prime suspect for the Romanians' death.

The prosecutor Isa has a secret, extramarital love affair with Alf. He wishes for more time with her and visits her to see her husband without an agreement. Isa then separates temporarily from Alf. Plagued by insomnia, Alf takes sleeping pills and amphetamines , which he gets from dealers at night. One evening, in front of Jawad's exchange office, he happened to notice Nicky, whom he knew from a previous case. By interviewing Prami, he finds out that Nicky is organizing the Danish drug business on Marco's behalf. Because of Storm's instruction to concentrate on Prami, Alf observes Nicky on his own. With the help of the police chief of Copenhagen, Peter Brodersen, whom Alf meets by chance, Alf manages, to Storm's annoyance, that he can concentrate on Nicky. When Alf and Stine prepare Nicky's apartment for observation, they overlook a surveillance camera operated by Nicky, which means that Nicky soon learns about the investigation against him.

Meanwhile, the bank advisor Anna is passed over to the branch manager. Frustrated by this, she secretly helps her husband Søren to rescue his small construction company through illegal acts. To do this, she manipulates the accounts of one of the company's suppliers, who is called Rune, and whom she informs about. Then Rune and Anna get to know each other better. He brings them into contact with men who are looking for partners in money laundering . She rejects the first as unprofessional, the second is too dangerous for her. With the third, Nicky, she agrees to launder his money through foreign accounts. To do this, she uses the computer systems of her bank and also enters into agreements with foreign businessmen. With her secret actions Anna gains self-confidence, also with a view to her married love life. With a gift of money from Nicky, Anna buys expensive clothes, which Søren accidentally discovers, so Anna tells him about her money laundering activities. After Søren asked her to stop these activities, she and Nicky's help intimidated him with two thugs. Meanwhile, Anna begins to cooperate with other currency exchange owners to launder Nicky's money. When an internal audit takes place in her bank , she successfully hides her tracks from the auditors, but the new branch manager Nete now suspects her transactions to be unfair.

While searching for a buyer for a drug delivery, an acquaintance brought Nicky into contact with the Palestinian Wasim, who also offered him to buy a ton of hashish a month from Nicky. Nicky has the drugs, hidden in a car, brought to a Copenhagen car repair shop and from there distributed by bicycle couriers. When Alf's team checked one of these couriers, the latter triggered an exchange of fire in which he and an uninvolved woman were shot. Alf's team then works through a list of 25 places in the city where raids are taking place against Nicky's drug dealer network - but with the exception of Wasim, whom Alf von Brodersen is banned from investigating for undisclosed reasons - much to Stine's astonishment. The team secures weapons, drugs, money and cell phones and, while checking communication data, learns that Nicky wants to meet Marco in person the next day. Despite extensive surveillance of Nicky, Alf's team is unable to capture Marco, who can leave unnoticed after meeting Nicky.

When Alf and Møller appear at Nete and Anna's bank branch to check Nicky's financial activities, Anna plays a key role in making it clear to the police that everything is okay with Nicky's accounts. Anna is now, in addition to her quest to control Nete, concerned with hiding Nickys and her own criminal activities from the police. Using physical violence and the threat of murder, she intimidates Nete at a private meeting in order to cooperate with her.

Brodersen forces Alf not to continue investigating Wasim and Nicky, as his goal is to monopolize the drug market in Copenhagen in order to prevent violence and competition among the various drug dealers. Brodersen threatens to reveal his drug addiction and his love affair with Isa. In order to enforce Brodersen's order, Alf gets rid of Stine, who criticizes his decisions by denouncing them to Storm. Alf now has his team investigate against Bobby, a competitor of Nicky in the drug market. Bobby, however, shortly afterwards murdered Wasim on a golf course. To Alf's astonishment, Brodersen insists, despite Wasim's death, that Alf's team will no longer investigate Nicky. Alf defies Brodersen, however, takes Stine and Storm into his confidence and lets himself and his team be determined against Nicky again. With Brodersen planning to disband Alf's department in response, his team is under particular pressure to deliver crucial investigative results quickly.

Alf analyzes that Marco is actually Nicky, one and the same person. When Alf and his team want to arrest Nicky in his house, they find it abandoned and with traces of blood. These come from Nicky, who was stabbed there shortly before by Lala, whom Nicky wanted to build up as his successor. Lala perpetrated the act of violence after he also learned of Nicky's double role as Marco, and because Nicky had previously denied his wish to help Wasim's deputy Nabil by supplying weapons with which he would like to avenge the murder of Wasim. Another reason Lala's act was that Nicky did not help him after he was beaten up by racist men. Meanwhile, Nicky goes to his girlfriend Sahar, whom he met in Wasim's environment, seriously injured and looking for help. She makes sure that he comes to a hospital. From there, after emergency treatment and under considerable pain, he managed to escape, also because an order attributed to Alf Brodersen meant that the police officers assigned to protect the hospital were withdrawn. Meanwhile, Alf and Möller have confronted Nete about Nicky's financial transactions and learned that Anna was actively involved in Nicky's money laundering.

Nicky, who wants to leave for Spain as soon as possible, turns to Anna to have her pay out his money. Anna, however, was dismissed by Nete and therefore has difficulties in fulfilling his wish. She is also under pressure from Nabil and Lala, who continue to need Anna's services and also threaten the lives of Anna's son and Sören. In order to carry out the necessary computer transactions and not to be disturbed by Nete, she carried out an assassination attempt on Nete, which she survived seriously injured. When an internal audit is due again in her bank branch, she confesses to the auditors that, under her responsibility, the accounts she manages have been used for payments of large sums abroad. Although the auditors have given her the prospect of a criminal complaint, the bank director - a former fellow student - offers her to work in the bank's head office in the compliance department.

Meanwhile, Brodersen has made sure that Storm receives the compromising information he threatened Alf with. Alf is therefore suspended from duty by Storm. While he was suffering from severe withdrawal symptoms at home after stopping his addictive drugs, Nicky visited him, who wanted to confess comprehensively in return for mitigating measures . Then Alf asks his colleagues by telephone to pick up Nicky. Contrary to Alf's expectations, however, he was picked up by Brodersen's confidants, who wanted to protect himself by forcing Nicky to travel to Dubai immediately and permanently . When Nicky leaves a clue for Alf on his last visit to his house, Alf and his team manage to track down Nicky at the airport, who was able to thwart his departure by attempting suicide. With the evidence provided by Nicky, Lala, Nabil and their accomplices are arrested, Alf makes an appropriate announcement to Brodersen.

Four months later, Lala and Nabil are sentenced to several years in prison. Anna now works as the head of the compliance department at her bank. Alf is addicted to pills again and watches on TV watching Isa's husband, a politician, celebrating the recent legalization of hashish in Denmark. Nicky is brought out of his prison by car and shot by a motorcyclist on the way.
