Husam Chadat

Husam Chadat (born May 15, 1966 in Damascus ) is a German-Syrian actor and director .

Life

Husam Chadat initially studied civil engineering in his native city from 1983 to 1987 before studying acting at the theater academy there from 1987 to 1991. From 1990 to 1993 Chadat had an engagement at the National Theater of Damascus, at the same time he was in front of the camera for Syrian television. In 1993 Chadat came to Germany and began studying directing at the University of Television and Film in Munich , which he graduated in 2003. From 1995 to 1997 he was also a scholarship holder of the German Academic Exchange Service . During his studies, Chadat made a number of documentaries and short films that were shown at various festivals such as the Hofer Filmtage , the European Short Film Biennale in Ludwigsburg and the Munich Film Festival , some of which have received multiple awards. As a co-author and co-director, he was involved in two documentaries about the film producer Bernd Eichinger , Bernd Eichinger, a real pioneer and Bernd Eichinger - when life becomes a cinema . On the basis of the conversations between Chadat and Eichinger, a substantial part of the documentary Der Bernd was made in 2012 .

From 2000 to 2002, Chadat was in charge of project development at Constantin Film , and in 2003 he and Anke Engelke reported on the Berlinale for the ARD morning magazine . In 2003 and 2004, Chadat was responsible for the Arab website of the Discovery Channel , and since 2003 he has also worked as a freelance writer for the ProSieben magazine Avenzio - beautiful life! . Chadat Thomas also translated Bernhard's play Der Theatermacher into Arabic.

Since the late 1990s, Chadat has been shooting for German television again and again. He was seen in several Tatort episodes and various series and television films. In 2015 he appeared in front of the camera alongside Bruce Willis and Bill Murray in the American feature film Rock the Kasbah . He was also featured in Michael Bay's action film 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi , which was released in March 2016.

Husam Chadat speaks German and Arabic as well as English and Spanish. He lives in Berlin.
