Fontaines is a French municipality with 758 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Vendée in the region of Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement Fontenay-le-Comte and the Canton of Fontenay-le-Comte . Since January 1, 2016, Fontaines has merged with the neighboring municipality of Doix to form the Commune nouvelle Doix lès Fontaines .
