The Forellenbach is a creek with its longer right upper course less than seven kilometers long in the Hohenlohekreis in northeastern Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the middle Jagst from the left and south in the village of Hohebach in the municipality of Dörzbach .

geography

course

The trout stream has two headwaters of the same name, which are about 700 meters north-northwest of Weldingsfelden at about 363  m above sea level. Unite NHN near the sewage treatment plant from their already sunk valleys.

Right upper course

It rises at about 412  m above sea level. NHN south of the Mulfingen hamlet of Hohenrot on the northeast corner of the Ottenhag forest . In an almost constant westerly course, initially along the northern edge of Ottenhag, opposite of which is the Kalter Brunnen corridor , it meanders through a small strip of alluvial forest, partly through swampy terrain. After being separated from the forest, its bank remains without a tree gallery. It runs through a half-hectare-sized, permanently dammed retention basin, immediately after which it takes up a creek ditch whose source is in the Ottenhag. In the basin he crosses under the K 2311 from the nearby Ingelfinger Weilers Weldingsfelden in the south to Hohebach in the north and then turns for his last 400 meters to the northwest, here now accompanied by a tree gallery.

The right upper course is 2.7 km long and runs through an altitude interval of about 49 meters, its mean bottom slope is thus about 18 ‰. It has a catchment area of around 2.2 km² and can dry out along its entire length.

Left upper course

It arises at about 427  m above sea level. NHN in a ditch between fields that begins on the L 1022 Hermutshausen –Mulfingen and thus directly on the route of the Hohe Straße between Kocher and Jagst , an old high-altitude path on the watershed between the two large rivers. From here on it flows, almost to the very end, along property boundaries and field paths, with a large arc to the east to Ottenhag around Weldingshausen, which is located on a hill, in a north-north-westerly direction.

The left upper course is 2.4 km long and runs through an altitude interval of about 64 meters, its mean bottom slope is thus about 27 ‰. It has a catchment area of around 1.7 km².

Run

Soon after its confluence, the trout stream enters a valley forest around 60 meters below the accompanying heights on the northwest run, in which it turns between Schneckenberg left and Ripberg right on the now very steady north run. After the valley floor has opened into a narrow floodplain, federal road 19 emerges from a south-southwest side valley into its valley; the 1.3 km long brook that accompanies it, also only inconsistently water-bearing, with a partial catchment area of around 1.4 km² is still the largest tributary below the upper reaches, some others, just as unstable, come to a maximum of 0.5 km in length. In addition to the main road, the trout stream reaches the southwestern outskirts of Hohebach, flows through the place under four road and path crossings and then flows between the two valley sports grounds at about 244  m above sea level. NHN from left and south at the level of a sediment island in the course of the river from left and south into the middle Jagst , about three hundred meters below the mouth of the Jagst of the other village stream Hohebach .

The trout stream is 6.7 km long, calculated from the source of the right upper course. On this route it runs through an altitude interval of around 168 meters with an average bottom slope of around 25 ‰.

Catchment area

The trout stream drains 9.6 km² of the natural area Kocher-Jagst Plains approximately north-northwest to the Jagst . The upper catchment area with the upper reaches belong to the lower area of Östliche Kocher-Jagst-Riedel , the majority of the rest belong to the lower area of Dörrenzimmerner Platte and only the small estuary in Hohebach is in the lower area of Unteres Jagsttal .

The highest layer in the catchment area in geological terms is a high-altitude island of loess sediment deposited in the Quaternary, which lies in the area of the southern watershed along the Hohe Strasse and in the Ottenhag . Below this is the uppermost tertiary layer of the Lettenkeuper ( Erfurt Formation ), which mainly extends over the left shoulder of the valley to the north. In the valleys, the Upper Muschelkalk is available from around the 400 height line, from which it begins to deepen, i.e. from the northwest corner of Ottenhags in the case of the right and east of Weldingsfelden in the case of the left upper course; the only major tributary on the line of the B 19 actually begins its course in the Upper Muschelkalk. The Middle Muschelkalk begins in the lower valley at around the end of the hillside forest and is then the bed underground up to the edge of the flood sediment tube in the Jagsttalaue. The Lower Muschelkalk does not appear on the trout stream, but still about half a kilometer up in the Jagsttal, which is crossed a little before the confluence of the neighboring stream Hohebach by a south-east-north-west moving disturbance with deep floe, apparently on the trout stream side.

The highest point is on the southern border on Hohe Straße at almost 429  m above sea level. NHN .

The Hohebach rises near the source of the right upper course ; beyond its right and northeastern watershed, it competes with the trout stream up to its mouth, which is also in the village of Hohebach. Beyond the south-east, the stream through the Rote Klinge , the Hetzlesbach and the Speltbach over its left branch continuously drain into the Jagst in three very short sections . The hydrologically most important watershed is on the south side of the area, because on the opposite side the Österbach drains over the Deubach to the Kocher . In the south-west lies the headwaters of the Sindelbach , which - but now further downwards - drains back to the Jagst, as does the Ginsbach with its tributary Meßbach .

In the catchment area there are large areas of forest in Ottenhag east of Weldingsfelden, especially in and on both sides of the valley from roughly below the junction of the upper reaches to less than half a kilometer from the Hohebach border and around Wendischenhof. The open hallway is mostly under the plow on the higher ground.

The area includes the town of Ingelfingen in the south and the municipality of Dörzbach in the north ; the community of Mulfingen has a smaller share on the southern outskirts. Only the Dörzbach estuary, Hohebach, is located directly on the run . The hamlet of Wendischenhof von Dörzbach stands on its left edge at the height of the hill ; north over the right upper course a few houses of the Mulfingen hamlet Seidelklingen ; right in the sub-catchment area of the left upper reaches of the Ingelfinger hamlet Weldingsfelden with only a few houses within walking distance.

Nature and protected areas

The upper course along the northern edge of the Ottenhags are close to nature , this at its last 400 meters and the subsequent trout stream up to the border of Hohebach. In its limestone blade, the valley floor is rich in rubble. On the slopes, especially the flatter upper ones, there are numerous hedges, mostly parallel to the height line, in the open corridor, in the Untertal some run down the slope on stone barrels.

With the exception of the Hohebacher settlement area, the valley of the unified brook belongs to the Jagsttal landscape protection area with side valleys and adjacent areas between the Schwäbisch Hall district boundary and the Krautheim / Schöntal community boundary .
