The Deubach is an over 8 km long creek in the urban area of Künzelsau in Hohenlohekreis in northern Baden-Württemberg , which flows from the right and northeast into the lower Kocher after a long west-north-west and finally south-south-west run near Nagelsberg .

geography

course

The Deubach arises at about 419  m above sea level. NHN near the customs house east of Amrichshausen on the Hohenlohe level , only about half a kilometer north of the upper right edge of the slope of the Kocher valley after its west bend at Kocherstetten . In a hollow, barely noticeable at first, it flows like its large companion to the west and crosses Amrichshausen. About 2.5 km after its origin, it takes on the Ohrbach stream from the right , where it is now sunk 30 to 40 meters into the plateau.

Then he steps into the steeper, west-northwest running Devil's Blade , where the slopes and the valley floor are soon filled with forest. After the inlet of the Steinbach again from the right, the valley widens slightly, soon afterwards the floodplain clears, until at the entrance to the village of Belsenberg the corridor covers the foot of the slope on the left and even the middle slope on the right. Right at the beginning of the village, its longest tributary flows into it from the right, the over 6 km long Österbach , an upper course almost as long.

In the village, the brook takes a tight left curve around the Deuberg , in which it takes up the smaller Füllbach from the right. At its end, it flows, accompanied by the B 19 , which has entered the valley over the left slope of the Füllbachklinge, in its inlet direction to the south-southwest. Passing Nagelsberg on the lower left mouth spur, the stream reaches the Kochertalaue, crosses the road that accompanies the river on the right in the Kochertal, then "crosses" the EVS power plant canal (for more information under →  Inflows ) and joins a few steps later from the left and in a south-westerly direction about 209  m above sea level NHN in the lower Kocher flowing west there .

Catchment area

The Deubach has a catchment area of 22.5 km², which in natural terms belongs to the Kocher-Jagst plains . The larger, higher part of it lies in the lower area of the eastern Kocher-Jagst-Riedel , the lower valley on belsenberg and short columns of the valleys converging there are counted as the lower area of the Kocher valley .

It extends from west to east over 6 to 6.5 km and from north to south over 3.2 to 4.5 km and is roughly rectangular in shape with the mouth at the south-west corner. From there, the right watershed runs up the right slope of the Kocher valley and then north to about the water reservoir south of Ingelfinger Bühlhof; the adjacent area soon drains south via the Ingelfinger Schulklingenbach to the Kocher . From this north-west corner the border stretches to the east as far as southern Ottenhag near Ingelfingen-Weldingsfelden, roughly on the route of the old Hohe Strasse between Kocher and Jagst ; there competes over the longest stretch beyond the Sindelbach , most recently the trout creek to the Jagst . On the adjoining east side of the catchment area down to the southeast corner at the Amrichshausener Zollhaus, the Speltbach also runs and further up to the Jagst. The southern watershed from the Zollhaus back to the estuary runs prominently on the right shoulder of the slope of the nearby Kocher Valley, from which there is neither a major tributary to the Deubach nor to the Kocher .

About three quarters of the catchment area belong to the city of Künzelsau and about a quarter to the city of Ingelfingen , the latter mainly in the north-east on both sides of the upper Österbach and in a marginal strip near the north-west corner . A tiny gusset at the extreme northeastern tip in Ottenhag belongs to the municipality of Mulfingen .

The plateaus between the twin rivers Jagst and Kocher, which are predominant in the catchment area, are 400  m above sea level. NHN to a maximum of 429  m above sea level. NHN (crossing of the street Hermuthausen – Weldingsfelden with the Hohe Straße). With the exception of a few small wooded areas, these include open areas. Forest stands on the steep slopes of the deeply buried valley blades in the catchment area as well as on the edge of the outer blades close by.

  • "Cross" the EVS canal in the right Kocheraue near Nagelsberg. Immediately in front of a weir, the stream runs from the right into this right side channel of the Kocher, which is only about 500 m long there. The drain on the opposite side of the canal into the old stream bed, which is significantly lower, can also be regulated by a weir. It's less than a hundred meters from there to the mouth.

The mouth of the Deubach near the exit of the Kochertalstraße L 1045 from the B 19 from the right and northeast to about 209  m above sea level. NHN in the cooker . The Deubach has a total length of 8.4 km and a catchment area of 22.5 km².

geology

Löhlein sinkhole near Garnberg

The course of the Deubach begins in one of the loess sediment islands on the southeastern edge of its catchment area, which cover the highest layers of the Lettenkeuper ( Erfurt Formation ) on the eastern and northern edges of the same . The brook enters this before Amrichshausen, it covers about half the catchment area on the greater part of the high elevations in the northeast, but also about a strip in the area of the watershed to the Kocher. Soon after the village the brook runs in the Upper Muschelkalk , in which the devil's blade also begins. After the Steinbach has flowed at the end of the narrow section of the gorge, the stream enters the Middle Muschelkalk , which is on the valley floor as far as the outskirts of Belsenberg. At the beginning of the village, the Lower Muschelkalk sets in , in which the Deubach remains up to the mouth. All areas in the Muschelkalk, which cover the middle and lower valleys, together make up a little less than half of the area of the catchment area. On the last kilometer before Belsenberg until the beginning of the left turn of the stream in the village, the valley basin follows a fault line running from south-east to north-west.

Geotopes

Large parts of the catchment area lie a little above the layer boundary between Muschelkalk and Unterkeuper, which is why there are some of the sinkholes typical of such locations: the large Immenloch funnel-shaped doline in the corridor north of Amrichshausen, a water-filled sinkhole in the Löhlein in the northeast of Garnberg, a sinkhole in Osterholz in the west of Hermuthausen and another water-filled sinkhole in the Neugreut corridor west-northwest of the village. A clay pit with Unterkeuper main sandstone in the east of Garnberg, an embankment in the Lower Muschelkalk on the southern edge of Belsenberg and a bulging slope of the Deubach in the Lower Muschelkalk in the southwest of the village offer outcrops. Such steep slopes in the Lower Muschelkalk, which are not uncommon in the region, are called Gleeb in the dialect of the region .

Protected areas

With an ordinance of April 13, 1983, the Hohenlohekreis District Office designated the 2.1 km Deubachtal nature reserve (protected area number 1.26.020). It comprises the valley of the Deubach from its entrance to the blade after Amrichshausen to the outskirts of Belsenberg, the lowest valley of the Steinbach tributary and the lower one of the Siegelbach tributary and, further on to Belsenberg, the slopes of the Deuberg on the valley side.

The Deubach crosses the Künzelsau water protection area of Prübling , which covers around one square kilometer in the catchment area, between its entry point at the mouth of the Ohrbach stream and the next Steinbach tributary .
