Forged From The Love of Liberty

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Forged From The Love of Liberty is the national anthem of Trinidad and Tobago .

history

Text and music were written by Pat Castagne . In its original form, he submitted the song under the title A Song for the Islands for a competition in which the anthem of the short-lived West Indian Federation should be chosen. There he was defeated. In 1962 he successfully submitted his draft, in which he had changed some passages, for another competition - that of Trinidad and Tobago, whose independence was imminent.

English text

Forged from the love of liberty,
In the fires of hope and prayer,
With boundless faith in our destiny,
We solemnly declare:
Side by side we stand,
Islands of the blue Caribbean Sea.
This our native land,
We pledge our lives to thee.
Here every creed and race finds an equal place,
And may God bless our nation.
Here every creed and race find an equal place,
And may God bless our nation.
