The Fornacher Redlbach , also Fornacher Redl or just Redl or Redlbach is a left tributary of the Vöckla in the Hausruckviertel in Upper Austria .

course

The Fornacher Redlbach rises below the escape on the southern slope of the Kobernaußerwald in the municipality of Redleiten . The source is only around 1.5 km as the crow flies from the origin of the Ach , which drains north to the Inn . The Redlbach initially flows south through the Redltal in a relatively natural course through a forest area. After leaving the forest, it flows past Fornach and takes on the Bruckwiesenbach from the right below. The Redlbach then turns south-east and flows into the Vöckla after 14 km west of Vöcklamarkt .

In the forest area, the Redlbach is largely natural without bank and bed reinforcements and with several branches. The stream continues to flow relatively naturally and is not straightened, but it is provided with thresholds . The woods accompanying the banks (in particular alders and willows ) are differently pronounced and are formed as a small alluvial forest near Fornach . The Redlbach has a wide river bed with high bed load . The water was dammed in some places by the debris and bogs and wet meadows formed.

In the Redlbach, the Ukrainian brook lamprey ( Eudontomyzon mariae ) was found, which is dependent on undeveloped waters with strong currents and gravelly sandy bottoms and only occurs in a few places in the Danube catchment area.

With a strip of 50 m on both sides, the Fornacher Redlbach is a protected landscape area.

Surname

As with the other streams of the same name coming from the southern slope of the Hausruck or Kobernaußerwald, the name “Redl” is attributed to the reddish color of the water.
