Bishop Hermagoras and Deacon Fortunatus are two saints of the Catholic Church who were martyred in Singidunum ( Belgrade ) around 304 (according to later legend already around 70) and whose relics were brought to Aquileia around 400 .

Adoration

The festival of Hermagoras and Fortunatus is celebrated on July 12th .

The veneration of the two saints goes back to the first centuries after Christ, especially in the Aquileia area. The Carinthian Bishop Poppo of Aquileia dedicated the Basilica of Aquileia, built 1021–31, to them . In the crypt , the story of her life is depicted in magnificent frescoes in the Veneto-Byzantine style .
