action

When his wife and injured daughter disappear from the emergency room, a family man goes on a search - convinced that the hospital is hiding something. It quickly becomes clear that something is wrong. After waiting hours for his wife and daughter, Ray sets out to find them. After gaining unauthorized access to certain rooms in the hospital, he is followed by a security guard. After he is caught by the security guards, he is immobilized by a doctor. Nevertheless, he manages to escape from the hospital, where he can stop the police and ask them for help. Together with the officers, he regains access to the hospital; the staff tries to explain the situation, but the police also notice that something is wrong. After a number of discussions, the doctor treating his daughter is finally called out after work to clarify the situation. However, he also states that only Ray Monroe came to the hospital alone and wanted to be treated for a head injury. A psychiatrist is also called in to examine Ray. His last attempt to convince the police that his family is missing leads everyone involved back to the scene of the accident. Officer Childes discovers a puddle of dried blood and wants to arrest Ray, but he resists and locks everyone in an outhouse. He races back to the hospital, determined to find the truth. He goes to the basement and finds out that all the staff have set up an illegal organ trafficking ring. Just in time he manages to keep the surgical team from removing his daughter's organs. In the end, he supposedly manages to escape. Instead of taking his family with him, Ray kidnapped a wounded patient, his dead family is still in the trunk.

The film ends with a look back at the accident. Joanne stood in front of the visibly confused Ray and yelled at him. He pushed her aside, causing her to fall miserably and die. Ray put the dead bodies of his wife and child in the trunk and drove to the hospital.

Back in the cinematic present, one sees Ray at the wheel of the car on an endless country road. From the back seat, his wife, who is sitting there with her daughter, looks at him lovingly, and the family makes their way home. This escape from reality was created by his traumatized mind.
