Francesco Donà
Francesco Donà (* around 1468 in Venice ; † 23 May 1553 there ) was the 79th Doge of Venice from 1545 to 1553 . His ducat was marked by a long period of peace, combined with a flourishing trade.
family
The Donà were among the most respected new families. Between the 16th and 17th centuries, the family provided three doges, in addition to Francesco, Leonardo Donà and Nicolò Donà , as well as eight procurators and a cardinal .
The Doge's Office
During his ducat, the Sala del Consiglio dei Dieci was built in the Doge's Palace . The young Veronese was involved in furnishing the room with paintings .
Due to the lack of volunteer crews for the galleys , Venice used convicts for the first time . These galleys were used exclusively to fight the pirates in the Adriatic .

Tomb
The tomb was in the Servite Church, which was destroyed in 1816 . His remains were transferred to a Donà family chapel in Mareno di Piave ( Treviso province ).
