Francisco Simón y Ródenas

Francisco Maria Primo Simón y Ródenas OFMCap (born October 2, 1849 in Orihuela , Alicante province , † August 22, 1914 in Masamagrell , Valencia province , Spain ) was a Spanish religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Santa Marta in Colombia .

Life

Francisco Simón y Ródenas joined the religious order of the Capuchin for and received in 1875 the sacrament of Holy Orders . Then his order sent him on the mission to Colombia, where he worked in La Guajira .

Pope Pius X appointed him Bishop of Santa Marta on July 5, 1904 . The Apostolic Delegate in Colombia, Archbishop Francesco Ragonesi , ordained him episcopal on October 30 of the same year . Co- consecrator was the Archbishop of Cartagena , Pietro-Adamo Brioschi PIME .

On December 2, 1912, Pope Pius X accepted his health-related resignation and appointed him titular bishop of Echinus .

In the beatification procedure initiated for him, Pope Francis awarded him the heroic degree of virtue on April 3, 2014 .
