Juan Francisco "Pancho" Soñé (* 1860 in Jarabacoa ; † January 10, 1949 in Concepción de la Vega ) was a Dominican composer, music teacher, conductor and clarinetist.

Soñé had music lessons with Padre Andrés Requena , José Curbelo and José Julio Acosta in Concepción de la Vega. He played as a clarinetist in various orchestras and became the conductor of the city's Banda Musical . In 1890 he founded the Academia de Música here , from which musicians such as Luis Alberti , Juan Bautista Espínola Reyes , Rafael Martínez Alba , Francisco Gil Valencia , Aníbal de Peña and Gabriel del Orbe emerged .

Soñé was married to the mandolinist Elvira García Virita (Mama Vira) (born October 21, 1875 in La Vega, July 25, 1971 in Santo Domingo ). The childless couple repeatedly took in poor young musicians. As convinced communists, they contributed to the spread of communist ideas in La Vega after 1917. Elvira Gracía corresponded with Fidel Castro after the fall of the Trujillo dictatorship and was awarded a medal as the first Dominican communist.

In addition to songs (including based on poems by his wife) Soñé composed waltzes, dancas and mazurkas. In 1970 the Escuela de Bellas Artes from La Vega was named after him.
