Frank Baum (born March 15, 1970 in Leverkusen ) is a German basketball coach who was active as a player in the basketball league, especially for the TBB Trier .

Career

player

The 1.95 m tall shooting guard comes from the youth team of TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen and was part of the championship team in the 1989/90 season . From 1992 to 1994 he played during his studies in the United States for college team of Chaminade University of Honolulu in Hawaii in the NCAA Division II. After his return to Germany he began the season 1994/95 first in Oberelchingen at before moving to Trier changed , where he stayed for the next seven years and won the German Cup in 2001 with TVG at the end of his playing career .

Trainer

After a season as an assistant coach at the Bayer Giants under his former Leverkusen teammate Heimo Förster , he moved back to Trier in 2003, where he worked as assistant to Joe Whelton until 2007 . In 2007 Baum became the head coach of the Luxembourg first division team Musel Pikes Remich . At the beginning of his six-year coaching career at the club, he was runner-up twice in a row and also reached the cup final in 2008. In 2010 he also took over responsibility for the Luxembourg national basketball team. In the competitions of FIBA Europe , Division B did not achieve any notable successes, but at the end of his national coaching work, he won a silver medal as host at the Games of the Small States of Europe in 2013 , when Cyprus was beaten in the last game had to give.

For the 2013/2014 season, Baum returned to Trier and took over the position of sporting director at TBB Trier . In 2015 he began a second term as head coach of the Luxembourg first division club Musel Pikes Remich. He stayed in this post until 2018, after which he took over the coaching position at Résidence Walferdingen (also Luxembourg).
