Frank Michelis

Frank Michelis (born February 26, 1905 in Trier , † October 22, 1975 in East Berlin ) was a German actor .

Life

After attending high school in Trier, Frank Michelis learned the profession of art glass maker and then worked for several years in Australia . After his return, he was able to take private acting lessons in Germany with the money he earned there. He made his debut in Trier, played in the 1930s at the English Theater in Berlin , at the Landestheater der Mark Brandenburg and during the Second World War at a front theater . Frank Michelis, who until then called himself Frank Berling , received his first roles in feature films at the end of the 1930s. After 1945 he worked at the Berlin cabaret theaters Frischer Wind and Kleine Bühne as well as the Neue Bühne in the House of Culture of the Soviet Union , the Deutsches Theater and the Maxim-Gorki-Theater . At DEFA and the German TV broadcaster , he was active in many medium-sized and small character groups, often as a worker, farmer, seaman or fisherman.

Frank Michelis was married to the actress and broadcaster Ingeborg Olbricht (1918–2007). His sister Loni Michelis and her husband Werner Pledath were also well-known actors.
